Acupuncture Promotes Recovery from Injury

Acupuncture is a form of complementary medicine commonly used to relieve pain and often used in combination with other therapies. It is a painless, safe and effective treatment when performed by qualified and experienced practitioners.

In New Zealand, the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC) subsidises the cost of treatment for anyone with a valid ACC claim who seek treatment within 12 months from the date of their injury.

Acupuncture is considered beneficial in both injury-related or gradual process musculoskeletal conditions including:

Acupuncture also demonstrates value in helping alleviate women’s health issues including premenstrual tension and menopausal symptoms. And also with:

Fertility Treatments – acupuncture can work as an adjunct to standard fertility treatments including IVF and IUI to promote successful outcomes. Acupuncture and herbal medicines help regulate a woman’s menstrual cycle and optimise egg quality.

Pregnancy Support – acupuncture can promote relaxation and reduce morning sickness symptoms in early pregnancy. Promoting blood flow to the uterus and bolstering healthy immunity are benefits of acupuncture during pregnancy. In later stages, it alleviates body aches and reduces anxiety and gastrointestinal issues.

What can I expect during my Acupuncture Appointment?

Acupuncture is the insertion of very fine, sterile needles into specific points along the body’s meridians. Needles are left in place for up to 20 minutes and treatments may also include the application of heat, light or pressure. You remain still, warm and relaxed throughout the session which generally takes about 45 mins. The experience may be barely noticeable or you may feel a mild tingling or radiating sensation.
