Personal Journey to Acupuncture Practice

Tracey’s journey into acupuncture began while supporting her father through cancer treatment. During this time, she saw how simple techniques such as foot massage helped relieve his pain, which led her to explore complementary health therapies.

Her interest in Chinese medicine developed further after attending an introductory weekend course. She was drawn to its holistic framework, which views health in the context of the whole person rather than isolated symptoms.

Tracey’s work with clients emphasises practical strategies that can be incorporated into daily life to support recovery, balance, and overall wellbeing alongside acupuncture treatment.

She completed four years of training to earn a Diploma in Acupuncture from the New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine and is a Registered Acupuncturist with the Chinese Medicine Council of New Zealand. This requires a minimum of 22 hours of professional development each year to maintain registration.

Client-Centred, Evidence-Informed Care

Tracey’s primary aim when working with clients is to reduce symptoms and relieve pain as quickly as possible,  while also supporting changes that can be maintained long term.

Understanding each client’s treatment goals is central to her approach. She clearly communicates how acupuncture and other therapies may support their condition, and what to expect during and after treatment.

This work is grounded in clinical experience and supported by evidence for many conditions. Acupuncture can help increase blood flow, alleviate pain, stimulate the body’s natural healing processes, and reduce inflammation.

Every individual’s recovery is unique, but Tracey generally expects to see some improvement in a client’s condition within one or two sessions.
