ACUPUNCTURE – holistic health care
Acupuncture is an ancient form of health care treatment that is a part of the overall system of Chinese medicine. It has been used and refined over thousands of years throughout Asia and is now increasingly used in the West. Acupuncture can be used on its own or as a complement to what conventional/allopathic medicine offers.
Chinese medicine can be used for the treatment of a vast range of chronic and non-life threatening conditions. According to Chinese medicine theory, conditions of ill-health arise from energetic imbalances in our bodies created by both external and internal forces. These imbalances disrupt the flow of Qi (vital energy) through the Meridians (energetic pathways running through our bodies). Over time this leads to the onset of symptoms and conditions of dis-ease/disharmony.
Acupuncture treatment involves the insertion of very fine needles into points along the Meridians. In Chinese medicine theory, it is believed that the needles stimulate and regulate the flow of Qi through these pathways. This restores balance to the energetic system of the body thereby improving health by increasing the body’s ability to heal itself. There is increasing clinical research to verify the effectiveness of acupuncture and Chinese medicine for certain conditions. The World Health Organisation supports the use of acupuncture for many health conditions. See the links below for more information:
