Pain and Injury Recovery
Acupuncture is frequently used in the treatment of pain (chronic and acute) and following injury to promote recovery.
Current evidence suggests acupuncture may be helpful in a number of musculo-skeletal conditions including shoulder pain, lower back pain, neck pain, lateral elbow pain, migraines, post-surgical pain and osteo-arthritis knee pain. In practice, acupuncture is used in support of a vast range of musculo-skeletal conditions – both acute and chronic, and for both injury related conditions or those attributable to a gradual process.
Acupuncture is used to assist in injury recovery by reducing pain, improving mobility and releasing tension.
In New Zealand, ACC subsidise acupuncture for injuries with a valid ACC claim (within 12 months from date of injury) making it an affordable and safe form of treatment.
